I think Tony Ball needs to let these guys loose, if we have an athlete that can catch and run, then we need to put them out there. i think too often ball makes these guys tentative with the perfection he demands. frick route running, if we have a guy who can go out there and be a gamer, we need them to step up.
It's important that the WRs are predictable so that the QB knows where and when to throw the ball.
Also, a clean route minimizes the ability of the defenders to actually defend the ball while maximizing the success of the throw (assuming the ball is placed where it needs to be).
"Ballers" and "gamers" are good, but they still need to have good technique and run good routes. Not doing so will result is more busted plays, more confusion and bad decisions for the QB, and potentially greater likelihood that the defense will successfully stop the play (or even create a TO).
