Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't even from Alabama. The song just sounds better as "Sweet home Alabama" rather than "Sweet home Florida". But then again I'd say Alabama is more of a white trash state.

In that same vane, when I went to Tuscaloosa a couple years back, I did get a kick out of UAT's gameday obsession with "Dixieland Delight," a song about Tennessee.

Florida in the 1970's and before was just as 'trashy' as the rest of the South, just as the Panhandle from Gulf Breeze to Jacksonville currently is.
