Therefore the "community" label is as lazy as it is bogus.

I agree, blacks shouldn't view themselves as a community but it doesn't detract that the majority of them do band together due to race and nothing more.

They do this with White Privilege (as opposed to calling it Majority Privilege).

They do this with "Black Community", that didn't manifest from beautiful white lips.

I only echo what the "Community" (much like the Black Caucus) produces. If Blacks want to be individuals, they need to stop focusing on race so much.

I agree that the term is specious and outright wrong, but we can't have things both ways.

We can't acknowledge that blacks are collectively at a disadvantage and then make them individuals when crime and manipulation of the system are acknowledged.

And the thing is: They do it at such a rate where we have to look at them specifically because the numbers are so unbelievably disproportionate from that race.

"According to the BJS non-Hispanic blacks accounted for 39.4% of the prison and jail population in 2009, with whites 34.2%, and Hispanics 20.6%. The incarceration rate of black males was over 6 times higher than that of white males, with a rate of 4,749 per 100,000 US residents."

Welfare statistics on top of that.

This isn't to say there aren't productive members of society who are black, but the numbers are getting increasingly troublesome.

You throw out terms like "the majority" but that's becoming less and less the case. Minorities banding together over certain issues isn't unique to black people nor is it a new or particularly noteworthy phenomenon.

And that is because whites ate the majority in America. Kind of a silly semantic for you to constantly carp about (if you're indeed carping this time--sometimes you're tongue in cheek and I can't tell, I won't lie )

There you go again, talking about"community," and "they" and speaking of this collective that is a far cry from the reality that I live. All I can tell you is that this community of which you speak doesn't exist. Whether you choose to believe me or not is your prerogative. No skin off my nose either way

Also, I'm starting to crash, so if anything in this post didn't make sense, I apologize in advance for my fatigue
