Yeah it's a bit strange to have one side brick and the other side not but I really doubt that affects recruits.

No you're right. I remember hearing how Kenny Hill initially loved A&M when he saw the phase 1 renovations, then he went to the other side and didn't see a brick facade so he was going to commit elsewhere. Luckily, Sumlin informed him of the impending bricking of all of Kyle Field. Hill's commitment was assured.
