He's thrown nothing but screen passes. His completion percentage should be high.
Sims’ 12 completed passes traveled to receivers an average of 2.3 yards downfield.

Nothing but screen passes?
quote:
Seven of Sims' pass attempts went beyond the line of scrimmage. Cooper took a 5-yard slant 18 yards on the first possession. His longest throw of the day -- and arguably his best so far this season -- fell incomplete, as he rolled to his left and threw 25 yards to Christion Jones, who had his hands on the ball but couldn't hold on to it. Jones made up for it by taking an 18-yard Sims throw for another 23 on the first play of the second half. Sims' penultimate throw of the game went roughly 16 yards through the air but was deflected by a defender.

Thought I may need to post this again in case you didn't read it.
Look, he is doing what is asked of him. They just aren't asking him to do a whole lot. I've been happy with how he has played, but I still believe Coker will be our QB. He will give us our best chance once we face tougher defenses for sure.

How many yards did we get on those passes?

There seems to be a ton of fricking denial about this.
I think Blake is a swell guy too, but the homerism in here seems to know no bounds. He isn't "taking what the defense gives him", the coaches are game planning around his inability to throw downfield. He hasn't hit a receiver in stride downfield more than MAYBE twice. The few passes he's thrown more than 15 yards (and they're few to be sure) have been at WR's who had to turn around and stand there waiting on the ball. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid of what will happen when we play an actual defense. Maybe this offense will work better than I expect, but I'm not optimistic at this point.
That said, Coker isn't ready either.
