Time to get my mind right for the Gamec*ocks.
Reasons NOT to feel confident about our game this weekend at the WB:
1. Having re-watched the Clemson game, the win was NOT as dominating as the final score. True, we owned the 4th quarter, and I do mean OWNED it. But up until that point, it was a very close game and Clemson probably should have been up by about 10 at the end of 3. We were very fortunate it wasn't.
2. Our CBs are still extremely vulnerable, especially when they are isolated. Lots of mistakes made that Clemson did not make us pay for.
3. Clemson's inside rushing game did a very good job against us. Once they got behind, they couldn't simply run it up our gut. But when they didn't need to pass, they ran it very well, right up the middle. Mike Davis, if healthy, may give us fits.
4. We won the field position battle, which forced Clemson to play a lot more conservatively on offense than they otherwise would have. When they felt comfortable using their entire offensive package, they actually moved the ball on us pretty well.
5. Our WRs are a weak point on offense. Yeah, if we had Mitchell and JSW .... but we do not. If SC can somehow stop the run and keep us in obvious passing downs, we could be in trouble.
6. Williams Brice can be an extremely tough place for us to play. It just is.
7. S. Carolina's defense matches up with us a LOT better than they did with aTm or even ECU. They are designed to stop a pro set with a standard power running game. Plus, they know us very well. We are not going to surprise them.
8. Spurrier. Dude is a major douche, a brat, and it would be very nice to start him off 0-2 in the SEC and screw up his season. But he is an outstanding head coach and has had our # more than any coach in our history. His team will be ready for us.
- Anyway, I expect a war. I don't care if we win ugly by one point in four overtimes on a bad call.
Just win, baby.

They can't set this line high enough

Explain why our CBs are ' extremely vulnerable'...

I still give the edge to the cocks... Dawgs need to prove me wrong.

The only thing I'll say - SCAR can hang athletically with the Dawgs

I do not think they covered Clemson's receivers very well, one on one. I also think we got away with at least two pass interferences on big plays that weren't called.
We will need to rely on a dominant pass rush or we could be in trouble.
JMHO. Plus, I'm just trying to get my mind right with some Munson-esque negativity.

SC looked like crap vs ECU. This team is weaker than anyone guessed. Don't want to get too optimistic but I actually like our chances in Columbia this time.

Did not see any part of the ECU game. But I recall SC playing hideously against horrible teams the week before they played us in times past, and they rose up and gave us fits.

Well, they played zone and let the pass rush do the work and they did very well. Not sure you understand whst went down based on your commentary...

It's not the first time ECU has played well versus Scar.

I'll go you one further. I use frickin' emoticons too much.

I think I'm addicted to them and may need an intervention.

USCe's hasn't stopped anybody yet.
I watched the game, and there are some serious mechanical issues with that defense. We'll put up our points.
They have pretty good WRs. If Mike Davis can have a big game, they will score their fair share of points. But after Week 2, I just don't see the Cocks winning.
But then again we have a long history of shitting the bed at critical points in the season.

While we shite the bed often i think weve learned to at least kick the turd from under the sheets with our feet.
the scar defense is built thick like was said in another post. They have some downhill thumper lb's but for the first time since there was a stinchcomb on the line im confident they will handle their business....so if mason shits the bed the line will be the foot that kicks the turd out and we have four merry maids to clean the shite off the floor quicker than two jiggles of a jack rabbits arse.

SC had a deplorable passing game against ECU and they ran all over SC on the ground. I have high expectations but you're right, it's in Williams Brice which makes it harder

I thought it looked decent. Their receivers look fast and can make defenders miss. Thompson is erratic with his throws at times and the receivers can drop a pass here and there, but their passing game can give us trouble. CAN. I feel like our pass rush is strong enough that we will keep Thompson moving around in the pocket and his throws will be erratic, though.
It's funny how so many can watch a game and get different impressions, though. I am not saying you are wrong, Charlestondawg....just saying I had a different takeaway from that game.

Any time a team coached by Spurrier plays a Georgia team it is like the NCG for Spurrier he has always hated Georgia and will do anything he can to beat Georgia. I fully expect South Carolina to give us all we want.

Congrats, Golden. You finally started a thread that isn't about GT.
