Then Alabama needs to stop scheduling the likes of FAU for its home openers. Florida Atlantic could very well be the worst team in college football. Nebraska ran them out of Lincoln last week to the tune of 55 points, 35 first downs, and 784 yards of offense. If they play as poorly against us as they did against Nebraska, then look for Coach Saban to pump the breaks starting in the second quarter because you know he is not going to wipe FAU off the field like Pelini did.

I've heard this argument too many times. Who do you expect us to play in the weeks we're not playing the best of the SEC?

In 1978, Alabama's non-conference opponents were #10 Nebraska, #11 Missouri, #7 USC, Washington, and Virginia Tech.

I'm not saying we need to schedule an OOC power every week we're not playing in-conference, but there is no need to schedule teams like FAU when there are average/mediocre teams from the Big 5 we could get to play us.

Teams like Indiana, Rutgers, NC State, Utah, Colorado. Below average teams from power conferences.

**Conference Game

It's not an Alabama thing, it's a college football thing. Only two teams are playing a non conference "Power Five" game as a home opener.

Problem is you wont find many of these type school looking to take on Bama . last thing they want is a extra arse kicking which could cost them a bowl bid.

Then why not have Alabama reinvent how teams schedule home openers? I don't want to sit in the hot sun as a fan to watch Alabama play freaking FAU for the home opener.

A team such as Minnesota or Indiana from the B1G would be much more enticing. Or how about Utah or Colorado from the Pac 12? Iowa State from the Big 12 sounds sexier than Florida Atlantic from the ranks of the mid-majors.

They also want exposure, which is something a match-up in Bryant-Denny will give them. All of the teams listed above are programs struggling in the depths of mediocrity and irrelevancy. Playing Alabama and playing them hard on national TV would go a long way in recruiting.

I've got a better one.

If you're not gonna stay the whole game (whether Bama is winning or losing) don't show up and give your tickets to a real fan.

It's definitely not just an Alabama thing, but that wouldn't be my point. I hope that these type games will be eliminated for everyone soon. If they want to keep scheduling them though, there should be no complaining when people hit the exits early especially when Saban gets mad when we score late. He shuts down the offense so that we only run up the middle and expects fans to sit there in the heat and watch.

Who decides who a real fan is? Is there a council or committee?

Yep. Continuing to run the offense is the only way to keep fans at these types of games in the seats. Against these types of teams we go up 35-0 or 38-0 at the half and then turn it into an A-Day type scrimmage for the remainder of the game. It gets old really quick.

It's 85-90 degrees outside and all we're doing is running it up the middle. I can understand why some people get bored and leave.

the real answer is to put the young players in and let them run the offense. I would love to watch our second and third string players run the full offense and hang 70 on some teams.

Sims would have probably been much better prepared for saturday as well.
