Our OL and the fatigue factor

Anyone want to speculate on why some of the Juniors can't perform for an entire game. Do we have a conditioning issue up, puss factor issue, or what. I don't see Skipper or Kirkland needing to be rotated out as quick as the upper class OL.

Seems pretty simple to me. They aren't as good as the big two and can't perform at that high level for a whole game. I imagine as the season goes along you'll start to see folks replaced with youth.

Charpentier played the entire first half. Tretola took his spot in the second half.
Smothers isn't our answer at center. Maybe Ragnow gets his chance this week. Smothers looked bad

I thought he played pretty well, too.

I did as well, which is why I was surprised to see Tretola.
Not sure what went on there. Injury or something maybe?

I think Tretola may just be too good to leave on the sidelines.
What is it about Brey Cook that makes the coaches say they shouldn't try to make him play a whole game?

For one, it was quite warm Saturday. I don't think we will see fatigue set in quite like that again this year.
Just another reason I hated to open with an SEC game on the road.

that's the only thing I could come up with. Also, I'm no fitness guy, but could it be that we are cutting too much fat off of some of these big linemen? I mean, fat is fuel, and Brey and Smothers are all swolled up with muscle mass. Just a thought that crossed my mind.
Wife always tells me that I'll never run out of fuel.

Fat is not going to help your endurance in an athletic event. It's fuel, but it's no good in the short-term.

Bert or Pittman (can't remember who) outright stated last week that Tretola was the most day-one ready of the newcomers. Didn't surprise me a bit to see him in the second half.

Yeah - it's actually pretty exciting that neither he or Cam Jefferson have won starting jobs yet. Of course, if either knew how to play center that might be a different story. I'm just not going to worry about the OL, ever, while Pittman is on board. They need to pay that man anything/everything it takes to be our OL coach for the duration of Bert's stay.

Someone told me that Bielema was quoted today as saying that we have offensive line starters who can't go more than 30 plays in a game. 30 freaking plays? And they're starting? That's insane.

40 snaps for the 3 oldies more or less is what I heard.
