one scrappy arse dude. I had forgotten how tough that kid was.

He really took a beating in the '06 season. I feel like it understandably affected his ability to stand in the pocket and step into throws, but he was one of the toughest Bama players in my lifetime.

JPW was a tough dude. We've been blessed with tough QB's in the last 10 years or so.
When was the last time a starting Bama QB
missed a game?
I'm thinking Brodie Croyle in 2004?

I remember the hype considering he led Hoover to the state title and could have probably beaten any HS in the country. Taking over after the 2005 season and momentum, many thought he would not just pick up where Brodie left off, but do even better.
I think he could have developed better in a full career of Saban as JPW was usually called on to win the games far too often while McCarron and McElroy could trust the defense to hold on and the running game to bail out if needed and throw it away if necessary.

JPW and Lane Bearden are the toughest dudes I can recall playing at Alabama. JP would get his melon rocked and then hop up and tell the linebacker how good his girlfriend was the night before. Dude was a cocky bastard on the field but he wasn't scared of shite.
