You can't compare the two whatsoever. One of them is North Texas, which had made a grand total of 1 NCAA tournament before CJJ was hired. Tennessee on the other hand had a large fanbase and a pretty strong history behind them and had made numerous tournament appearances before Pearl got there. They're incomparable. It just doesn't make sense to compare one coach who's been at a school for 2 years to a coach's entire 8 year body of work at another school.

well to be devil's advocate, Pearl made the NCAAT in year 1 at Tennessee and every single year he was there after coaching at Wisconsin Milwaukee, who had zero Tournament appearances prior to Pearl getting there. he took them 3 straight years, beginning in year 2.

Sounds like Pearl walked into a respectably talented roster when he got to Milwaukee. My room mate is from Wisconsin and always raves about the underrated basketball players it produces. It's a moot point because no one in here can fairly compare the two different situations Jones and Pearl walked into back in 2000/2001.

I will completely agree with you if LSU fails to make the tourney and/or at least doesn't make serious noise with the recruiting class we'll be bringing in for next season. Otherwise, I just think it's only fair to sit back and give him more time. It's not like Mike Anderson is a bad coach, and Jones has already experienced good success against him
