Im sure there are others who can answer this but you seem pretty tuned in to the happenings that are A&M youngins'

Who do you think gets redshirted this year and why? And how do you personally feel about said playing getting a RS?

TIA

Probably easier to tell you who definitely isn't going to shirt.

I'm not TMC, but here's my guess:

QB - none. Allen has to play

RB - N/A

WR - Jeffery.

TE - N/A

OL - all of the freshmen

DL - Jarrett Johnson

LB - None (Shaan Washington may redshirt)

DB - None

prob too early to say. They are really trying to sort that this week. There is a mini-scrimmage tomorrow and a full one on Friday.

They want them in game situations to really see how they do. But for the most part, this class is well ahead of prior years due to the off-season coaching rule changes. Between that and a few poor evals from prior classes, I think quite a few are going to play.

I think Nacho redshirts, and I hope Josh Walker is given the opportunity to.

I think Washington (DL) redshirts too.

I don't know how Washington can redshirt and still give us a decent rotation at Nose. Right now, all we have there are Walker, Henderson, and Washington. If Washington redshirts, we are one injury away from having no backup.

If there is an injury then that changes thing. Same goes with most positions.

first as Farmer rightly points out, this isn't EA Sports and you don't have to submit a list of redshirts before the season. You just roll with what happens.

Second, Tyler Godwin is also at the position and has gotten most of the 3rd team reps. They plugged Washington into the scrimmage to see where he was and he'll almost certainly get more chances today and friday, but right now, I'd lean to agreeing with Farmer. There's no need to waste a year of a guy playing 10 plays all year.

For the most part, they are predisposed to the idea that you only play one freshman at a position because that way you don't overcrowd it. It's why a guy like Manning redshirted. The last thing you want is 3 guys in one class at one position because it makes building a pipeline damn hard. You have a limited number of scholarships so you want to space them out so you've got a guy developing to replace the starter.

We already have 2 freshmen DTs (Manning, Henderson). I think they'd prefer to redshirt Washington. It's up to him to prove they can't.

I guess I was hoping to see the type of DL rotation Auburn threw at us.
