Well #1 you're ignoring 3 way ties. LSU, A&M and Bama all beat each other in 2012. LSU and A&M lost to Florida so Bama, who had a very weak eastern division slate (as usual) won the division so yes, it has happened before.

Thank you for answering the question and looking that up. That's the only instance I can find that would give LSU an argument that Alabama had an advantage. A fluke 3 way tie situation that very rarely happens. The vast majority of the time (as in like 9 out of 10 times) the team that wins the West wins it because they won more West games than any other West teams. IMO the schedule thing has become nothing more than a built in excuse for any season LSU does not win the West. The reality is it is rarely the reason they did not.

i didn't need to look it up, when your team gets screwed like that it's something you don't forget. But hey it didn't happen to alabama so i guess you don't give a shite

Cross divisional games wouldn't matter if the playoff system just counted on if you win your conference.

Have each division of each conference have a champion based on games within the division, have those two teams play conference championships, take the big 5 champions and put them in a 6 team playoff system ranked based on total wins/losses (so extra-divisional games still matter, but don't effect whether you make it to the playoffs) with a 6th at large position, have 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5, then 1 vs winner of 4/5, and 2 vs winner of 3,6, then the winners match up.

Didn't USC win every east game one year and didn't go to Atlanta BC they lost two west games?

That's fricked up. Also lends to Spurrier and Miles wanting a change to the system where division games are first consideration.
