As much as I want the violent crime to stop, what can Sumlin actually do? He obviously can't follow all of them around (or have a staff to do it) 24/7. If the meatheads want to commit crimes, they're gonna commit crimes. Anybody who thinks Sumlin should recruit higher-character guys is dreaming. Unless a HS kid already has a criminal record how could he know?
I think it is more about some active mentoring that will help these guys realize what they can accomplish by just using their heads combined with a policy that leaves no doubt this kind of crap just won't fly.
I know better than most that sometimes you just have to learn your lessons the hard way, but I have to believe that there is more the program could be doing to groom these guys to be better people and better Ags.

So how does Hamm know more than the Bryan PD, or are they not releasing his name to inform the staff first?
I'm sorry, but if this is two more players, these athletes are getting this real god-like feeling and a growing immaturity very quickly.
I graduated from A&M in 2009 and the only major issue I can remember any player having is Yemi Babalola and that wasn't a huge loss. Every other player I had a class with or hung out with was so down to earth and never seemed like they had this sort of immature attitude that is spreading like wildfire in college sports

I don't have a link handy but I'm pretty sure they're already doing that. And what is such a program going to say? "Don't commit armed robbery. That's bad." "Oh, shite, coach. Thanks. I didn't know."
