Saban will be gone from Bama in 5 years max, maybe 3, and you can have a shot then. But just let it go.
Honestly when saban retires LSU will most likely become the class of the SEC.

Depends on who we hire. But all bull shitting aside, I have been impressed with the level of play LSU has maintained over the years, I thought y'all were dead in the water 5 years ago. You've maintained your identity (strong D-Line, and running game) and you're a force to be reckoned with every year. I don't bother posting about Auburn, Ole Miss, Georgia, or Arkansas for a reason. They may have a flash in the pan year, but I have been impressed with the consistency your program has shown. frick y'all for that!

Yeah most people recognize that LSU is a force. We had a perfect storm last year between the sub par recruiting class and losing all those players to the NFL. Les has restocked the cupboard and I expect LSU to be damn strong this year and elite next year. Last year we just didn't have the line play and the SEC is a trench warfare conference.

Bah, nevermind

So your saying if Alabama hadn't won 3 of the last 5 BCS Championships you wouldn't have to hear how good they are.
That actually makes sense.

Apparently they were, considering that's what the scoreboard says. It could've been 28-0 if Nick Saban decided to let running backs loose again.
What? I have to laugh. Was a 21-0 shutout for an NC not enough? Saban didn't have scrubs in at the end. Lacy carried the ball on Bama's last drive (not a scrub). They went on 4th down too I believe to get a 1st and run the clock out and weren't close to the end zone. Come on dude, y'all blanked LSU, you don't need to exaggerate.

Not really, LSU won its division and conference. Didn't get in over anyone else more deserving, either.
That's not the point. Both were unusual championship appearances. 2007 LSU lost game 12 in 3OT to a 4-loss team and lost game 7 to a team that would lose 5 games. A 2-loss national champion was unprecedented in the BCS era and unlikely to be repeated soon. On the other hand, 2011 Alabama had 1 extra week of preparation while LSU struggled against a disappointing Georgia squad. The difference between 4 and 5 weeks of prep is minor. LSU had a month to prepare for the rematch. The situation was unprecedented in the BCS era. However, 2001 Nebraska and 2003 Oklahoma got blown out in their respective regular season finals yet played for a national championship. 2006 Michigan was denied a rematch and failed to prove they were deserving of one in their bowl game. Oklahoma State had a more challenging road, but is the hatred or jealousy towards Alabama so strong that you'd let the #2 ranked team get away with choking against an unranked opponent late in the season? There's much more that I could write, but I believe few would take the time to read it.

Luckier than USC who got to play Michigan?
Let's just say that the best 2 teams arguably weren't in the title game.

Didn't hear a single Alabama fan complain about the Notre Dame layup.
This is an ill comparison. 2012 Notre Dame was undefeated and a media darling. There's no way they were going to be ranked 3rd or lower, so you don't have a point. Yes, Notre Dame was overrated and many of us could predicted an easy win, but no one was robbed. Kansas State was exposed and Oregon couldn't even win their division or conference. Regardless, there's no way Notre Dame was getting voted out of the title game.
quote:
Don't go into how other programs have won and claimed championships.
Most teams need the ball to bounce their way a few times in order to win a national championship. LSU has 3 football national championships. Alabama has more legit titles than your program. You can discredit 2011 all you want, but in the grand scheme of things, 1 less championship means little.

Yeah, and I also said how what lead to the 2nd of those 3 being possible was a cornerstone of it.

Unfortunately bro they did win them. They'll talk trash till saban retires and then it'll be over. The lesticles take over begins.

Giving up on continuing the discussion to tell you the truth
Posted on 7/22/14 at 12:13 am to Jrv2damac
Ok.
Look I know you have to turn the argument into Alabama didn't deserve to be there. It's the only way LSU's fan base has to try to save face after all the BS that was spewed after the 9-6 anomaly.
The fact is that OSU was going to get jumped by Bama because they lost after they did. It must really suck, but OSU blew it. Only team that lost that late in the season and still played in the BSCCG was LSU.

Johnny football and Notre Dame say hi.

I take it, but I don't have to like it. Was just saying Alabama getting that opportunity was crucial to their current position relative to LSU. I openly admit LSU is currently an also-ran until they prove otherwise...hopefully that's this year.

Well it wont be. Maybe in 2015 though. I could see you guys being good in 2015 if you can replace that Oline. We should also be really good in 2015.

It may or may not be a good year for us. Same as Alabama. Both teams have big ?'s.
Posted on 7/22/14 at 12:30 am to Mattwells90
Starting out 5-0 is pretty important given the remaining schedule after that stretch. Hell, I really don't want to be on here if LSU doesn't start out 1-0.

Let's not forget that LSU got lucky and didn't have to play USC in 2003.
LSU didn't get lucky in 2003. LSU beat the sh*t out of a top 5 UGA team in the SECCG in Atlanta when most people thought UGA would beat them. LSU had beaten them in a close one earlier in the season in Tiger Stadium, but many were still saying UGA was the better team. USC lost a game and didn't have a championship game playing in a soft conference (though they were a very good team). OU went undefeated in the regular season and didn't have a loss until their conference championship game. The system was only designed to handle so much. LSU held OU to just over 150+ total yards in the BCSCG and the OU offense was supposed to be one of the best ever with their Heisman QB. LSU's D was stacked and we've seen how Saban does in NC games.

Last but not least, there's LSU's 1959 national championship. Congrats on beating the #12 ranked team in your bowl game.
Did you just go back to 1959? Jesus... God Bless ya!
