"Absolutely nothing wrong with leaving early"? Check out the numbers of players who left early who were never drafted in the past 3 drafts.. That number continues to grow & none of them returned to school to get their degree from everything I've heard or read. So they return to small town USA to get a job flipping burgers. These guys..and family/agents...need this kind of slap in the face as cold reality is one mean bitch.

I agree. Players always have "experts" around them telling them how great they are so they believe it. Then on draft day, when the phone doesn't ring, reality sets in a little too late.

If they lack the motivation to finish up an extra year of school to get their degree is there any reason to believe these individuals would be successful with a degree in general studies, sports management, or whatever?

link? plenty of them return to school. i had classes with a lot of former athletes during the summer when i was in college doing just that. and those guys that don't return to school, do you really think the majority of them were on pace and would ultimately finish their degrees had they not left early?
