They created a page on the site. The fact that they didn't have a link to the URL doesn't mean it wasn't public. It was publicly available the minute they put it up without any security.

It is a BS violation and the frickup was done by the IT guy (instead of Athletic dept) who decided to take the lazy option to fast updating, but it was not a media hack and saying otherwise is just a plain out lie.
So your whole issue with this is the use of the word "hack"?

Yes. The word "hack" implies that some devious outside source was responsible. Why not just admit a simple mistake was made and quit acting like you are incapable of ever doing anything wrong? It amounts to nothing in the scheme of things so I don't know why it's that hard to admit a mistake.

Actually, yes. I work in the IT field. If I described directly typing an unlinked URL into the address bar as a hack to any of my peers, they'd properly laugh right in my face.

As I said, it is absolute BS that it could even be considered a violation.
