The business model is built on being the cheapest. Cut those labor margins as tight as possible. It's one of the many reasons I'll spend a little more at a store that is better staffed

There's room to compete with WalMart for many reasons mentioned in this thread. Those with more disposable income will go to other places with more specialized goods or at least better service.
