It's similar to the USC UCLA annual game, both teams want to wear their colors in that game and NCAA mandates one team has to wear their home gear.

SC/UCLA have worn their home unis together recently, now UF/UGA are doing that this year, IIRC

The NCAA changed the rule several years back when USC & UCLA decided to say F the rule and decided that UCLA (which was the home team) would just burn a timeout to offset the lose of timeout that USC had to incur for being a visiting team wearing their colored jersey. The NCAA decided that has long as both schools agreed to it, and that the uniforms must be of easily contrasted colors, then they could both wear their colored jerseys.

That used to be a tradition to wear home and homes for the TSIO, but when they started broadcasting the games on TV back in the day, the black andn white screen meants one team had to be dark and one light. But now, with how far TVs have come, i'd love to see a red and orange TSIO and a Blue and Red DSOR.
