This year, I think, we've got more future NFLers that are going to be lining-up on our D than on any other team in our history IMHO.
And your ppg and ypg will improve then because of the better talent (you guys said the same thing this past season).
See you in December

The youngest team in the country won 11 games last year, beat two BCS bowl winners, the Cotton Bowl winner, and Wisconsin and you're seriously giving us shite over the performance of a defense that had ONE NFL draft pick on it?
If your standards were that high at Georgia, maybe you could celebrate something more than just 1980 these days.
Good thing this isn't a rivalry, otherwise these threads would be brutal.

Since we're all here, how do USCe fans expect their rushing offense to change this year? Obviously the talent and experience is there on the OL, which is irreplaceable. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, Thompson isn't a threat with his legs like Shaw was. Shaw accounted for at least 400 yds rushing each of the last 3 seasons. Will the offense be reworked? Will that contain Mike Davis some?

quote:Definitely not. BUT, in a way, that will be used to our advantage. Thompson broke off two separate 19 yard runs against Clemson on zone-reads because the defense was in no way expecting him to run. Obviously coaches will catch on to that but every once in a while Dylan will keep it on a surprise and get some good yards.

20 yd run for a 1st down
19 yd run for 1st down
Also, Dylan will be way more inclined to stay in the pocket longer when facing pressure while Shaw would take off too early. Whether or not that will lead to errant throws from Thompson or not is a big question. He's given us both the good and the bad with that. In the Outback bowl vs Michigan in 2012 he threw the game winning TD w/ 11 seconds to go and took a massive hit.

Thompson definitely had his moments over the last couple years - both good and bad, but more good. Do you believe y'all will implement a FB more often this year? Seems like the offense departed from that in the past few years, since the graduation of DiMarco.

quote:Perhaps. Haven't heard anything like that though. We did run some plays last year involving FB Connor McLaurin, a JR with one career catch and no carries.

He's a good blocker for MD28 though.

I want us to have another TE/FB hybrid.
DiMarco was a FB and became a TE combo after Saunders got kicked off the team in 2010 and Cunningham was a TE that lined up in the backfield some after DiMarco graduated but we haven't really done that since then Cunningham graduated in 2012
I love lining TEs up in the backfield though. Word was that after the UT game they claimed they knew we were running the ball when a FB was in the game.
