Texas A&M...$100
Auburn...$100
Miss. State...$75

Seriously? aTm the same as Auburn? Up until this year, there was one game each year that was $70 or $75. All the other SEC games were 55-60. Now suddenly two games are $100 each.

Lady in the ticket office says that our ticket prices are set by the SEC and the NCAA. Not sure I buy that.

I found out the ticket prices because they sent me an offer to buy additional tickets. I have (relatively speaking) few Tide Pride points. I've never been given an opportunity to buy extra tickets to a game with a team like aTm.

Also, WVA tickets are now available for the general public.

That's right, just as a poster earlier posted a link where we could go to the WVA site and buy from their allotment, WVA fans can now go to roll tide.com and buy upper level $80 tickets from our allotment.

In addition, $130 level tickets which Alabama had set aside for other non-TidePride groups...faculty, lettermen, etc...are now available for Tide Pride members. So those groups aren't buying so many, either. After initially being unable to sell me $140 tickets, now they are trying to get me to buy the previously unavailable $130 tickets.

I speculated in the earlier thread that we might not sell out our allotment. Now I think that's even more possible.

And I'm not buying that the NCAA tells our ticket office that (a) the aTm game has to be the same price as the Auburn game, and (b) the aTm game has to be $100. I could obviously be wrong. But it's obvious that Alabama is having more trouble selling football tickets than ever before. Yeah, I get that selling 90,000 tickets at one price may bring more revenue than selling 100,000 at a lesser price. But if Saban says anything in the media this year about a few thousand empty seats, Battle needs to come back and say, "yeah, but we made more more money. And we're happier making more money and having a few thousand empty seats"

I've been in a slow transition from going to games to watching them on the HDTV.

Going to Bryant Denny for ANY game is expensive when you take everything into account. I get better seats , save money and don't feel like I wasted a whole day if I watch from home.

I read an article a couple weeks ago about how Michigan is having difficulty selling out for the season. Combination of increased ticket prices, too many bad opponents, increased TV coverage of games, HD TVs, and the administration treating fans more like customers than fans.

Michigan tix article

quote:

Fans are fed up paying steakhouse prices for junk food opponents — and junk food itself — while enduring endless promotions. The more college football caters to the TV audience at home, the more fans paying to sit in those seats feel like suckers.

It's just economically baffling to me. Fewer people going to games? Let's increase ticket prices AGAIN! There's a serious flaw with the way things are going... it has to do with cost and time. Time being more important, imo. The parking situation needs restructuring and ticket costs should be lower. People aren't not attending because there's no wifi, people aren't attending because you pay over $300 to waste your entire day for a game you know you're going to win, while other exciting matchups are going on.

1) Open up all University parking spaces. Build a lot closer than downtown. Parking, parking, parking.

2) Lower costs by section. You shouldn't be paying the same amount for NN-5 that you are J. Create 2 ticket deals for the upper end zones.

3) Show highlights and updates from other SEC and top-10 games from around the nation. MS State showed the Auburn-Georgia game on the jumbotron before the Alabama game this year. I thought that was great. Let's do that... show the game right before ours while nothing's going on except the countdown

I had this discussion with a family member who has been in TP for years and years. They are pissed. When Saban and Battle look around at the empty seats this year, they better point the finger at themselves because this is their doing. Garbage games at record prices.
