Honestly, UF is probably number 1 simply because of being the flagship school in the 3rd/4th most populous state. Although there are around 380K living alumni.

Total number yes but as a percentage of your fan base you are probably lower than Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU etc. UF competes with Miami and FSU (not counting the directional schools) in state for fandom.

I will never understand this logic.
Lifelong military personnel, children under the age of 18, people who wanted to go to a school for their specialization, people who go to an Ivy league school, people who got into college abroad, etc...
None of these people are allowed to be "real fans"?
Go tell the 19 year old fighting in Iraq and being shot at that he's not a "real fan" because of that Auburn or Alabama shirt he's got on under his BDUs.
