It's not worse than Haith.
It's a totally different thing.
Haith brought a ton of baggage.
Anderson is likely a 'bridge' hire.
Get some good wholesome discipline and stability in the program, then hire that younger up n' comer in a few years when the coaching market isn't in a holding pattern.

I am unconvinced of this. I think he is definitely a better coach than Haith. I don't know if that will translate into better W-L record. Or even being competitive in the SEC in basketball.

Do we know yet if we are keeping Fuller?
W/o Fuller we are screwed I think. There just wont be enough talent coming in.

If he can get talent, it should translate very well.

No one knows that for sure. We are all hoping. Up with hope.

No. It's worse. Alden hired a Beach Boy.

Would you be ok with the next football coach being Adam Dorrel?
An FCS coach would be a better comparison, like Chip Kelly.

Can you name another program with top 30 facilities and top 30 salary who cannot find a coach who will say yes? I cannot.
You don't know that.
Marsall had more reasons to stay at WSU than leave, he would have been kind of crazy to leave this year.
Howland may have been rejected by people at Mizzou, there is a reason he's out of work.
The Nova guy is at home, his wife was a cheerleader there, it's a good basketball school. Can't blame Mizzou for him not wanting the job.
That Underwood guy was begging for the job, I don't think Alden is why the coaches that turned the job down turned it down.
That said, I've been anti Alden for years. I've wanted him gone long ago.

Now that I have had some time to let it sink in, I agree with the OP. Am I ecstatic about the hire, no, but I do believe he is a better coach than Haith, yes. And yes I am a Norm guy, class of '93.
In trying to determine if moving from D-II to D-I would work, I kept thinking about Bo Ryan at Wisconsin, His past:
1972-1976 HS Coach
1976-1984 Wisconsin assistant Coach
1984-1999 Wisconsin-Platteville Head Coach (D-III)
352-76 (4 National Titles)
1999-2001 Wisconsin-Milwaukee (D-I) Age 52
30-27
2001-Current Wisconsin Head Coach. Age 54
13 straight NCAA tournaments
In looking at the Wisconsin Recruiting classes, they have not finished in the top 25 in recruiting going back to 2003. In the last two years they have 1 recruit that finished in the top 150. That recruit was #123. In that same time, Missouri has 5 guys in the top 150 ( Williams #42, Clark #72, T Jones #123, Gant #42 and Wright #73).
Yes it would be nice to recruit the best players year in/year out, but as Pinkel has shown, recruit the players that fit your system and coach them up. Haith couldn't do that, nor did he have a system.
I believe Kim has the ability to do this.
Would it have been nice to get the sexy hire and rub it everyone's face...absolutely. But I for one am excited to see what Kim can do.
This is his Blue Blood program, he has no other aspirations. He wants what is best for Mizzou. We haven't had that in while, so I welcome it.
A lot of you may disagree, and that is fine. To that I respectively say....GFY!
