I would rather have Frank Haith than Anderson

I don't understand how Anderson's resume even comes close to any of the other names being thrown around for the job. There is a reason why he was passed up on the last 2 MU coaching vacancies and why no other D1 school has shown interest. I wouldn't even have him as my backup backup backup backup option.

When MU announced the BoC meeting a lot of people assumed MU already had an agreement in principle with a coach (a fair assumption). Since that point Anderson texted Gabe that he was not offered the job. I think we can rule him out.

As far as the remaining candidates I think most people have GM as their #1 choice. If he is taking the job I would think there would be a leak before Monday. I'm sure he would tell his ~10 players that he is leaving before the news hits the media and there would be a leak from one of the players before that time. He also signed a recruit today which makes me think he will not be our next coach. On the other hand, Haith signed Painter shortly before moving to Tulsa. These coaches work until the contract is actually signed, so I'm not sure how much we can read into that.

The lack of leaks make me think it is Howland. Since he is out of coaching there is no players he would need to tell that he is leaving for another program.

My preference after GM would actually be Floyd then Howland, but I think Floyd was ruled out by one of the beat writers. I like how Alden seems to be looking for a Gary Pinkel type. Someone that shows loyalty, can coach and will be at the helm of the program for a long time. That is why I don't think he prefers the ~60+ year old coaches, but I think he will have to settle on one of them if GM does not take the job because none of the other coaches in their 40's are a sure bet. Alden is on the hot seat a bit after his last 3 hires and can't afford a risky pick here. That is why, if I had to guess, Alden's board has GM #1 and Howland #2.

Full disclosure, I have no idea who the MU coach is going to be. I think MU has handled this coaching search very well. They learned from their past mistakes (see Painter and Gov. Nixon) and kept everything tight lipped.

I'm excited for Monday.
