It is like me going into a store and saying "I really like peanuts, I am a huge peanut fan, so I am just going to take a few peanuts." Sure a few nuts won't make the store go bankrupt or hit the bottom line, but it is the principle of it that matters- those are not my goddamn nuts! Not one, not a few, not any. Not until I pay, which in my analogy is becoming a real stakeholder in the university.

For a sidewalk fan, it is not their goddamn brand to do with what they want. It is the brand of the university and its stakeholders aka the alums.

I would argue that Vandy sidewalkers should be mostly exempt from this argument. We paid our dues to the brand by suffering with them. I moved around between KY and TN when I was younger, so I was exposed to lots of UT and UK fans. A lot of them had an elitist attitude since my family didn't cheer for either (dad attended Cincy and mom attended small college with no real care for sports). Does that mean we have no right to cheer for anyone except the Bearcats?

Vandy was the local team when we moved to Nashville. Frankly, they weren't good, but I enjoyed going to games. Naturally, I became a fan. Yes, I'm a sidewalker. I couldn't get into Vandy. I'm actually attending Auburn. I've been to 2 basketball games (both in Auburn) and a football game. All 3 times I was in black and gold.

Now tell me, which sports brand do I represent?

Jesus, that dude REALLY hates him some sidewalkers. And I don't think he could be any more wrong.

Well obviously teams with less success have fewer sidewalk fans. In many ways the number of sidewalk fans is a measure of success.

I don't know if I can exempt you though with Vandy being not bad recently and Tenn being a trainwreck.

You obviously are representing the Vandy brand in action, but if you are attending Auburn the value of the Auburn brand is what your future will depend on.
