"Sidewalk" fans are some of the most loyal fans around & probably make up at least 50% of most fanbases.
"Bandwagon" fans are the greater evil of the two.

Very true, especially considering the fact that the SEC is littered with poor states with low percentages of college attendees.

I can respect someone who grew up in Alabama and didn't go to college but is a lifelong Auburn fan. I can't respect someone who switches allegiances based on how different teams are performing a given time.

Why are Alabama side walkers so much worse than Auburn side walkers?

It's the same state and even the same families at times but you never hear about Auburn side walkers completely losing their shite.

Sidewalker fans are usually great. They love their teams just as much as any alumni. Maybe they couldn't afford to go to their dream school, or maybe they live too far away, or maybe their degree wasn't offered at their favorite school. Nine of that is their fault,

Band wagoners is a different story. They are all scum especially the Heat fans, who were probably lakers fans a few years ago.

And before anyone ask, I was born in OKC.

This leads me to another question, one for both Bama and Auburn fans -- are there a good number of people in your state who actively switch teams based on which one is doing better? Right now is probably an anomaly considering how both teams have been good the last 5 years, but I ask that as someone who grew up spending every Thanksgiving in Birmingham, and I saw A LOT of Auburn gear walking around for a better part of a decade before Saban came aboard.

That's because Auburn side walkers go into hiding when Auburn isn't doing well. Or turn into Bama fans.

I think people on here love to confuse the two.

Sidewalk fans are committed fans and make up a majority of every SEC fan base (besides Vanderbilt). There are hardly any bandwagon fans in Alabama. People are born with a team and they die with that team. Yeah, a few can get crazy at times, but the majority are just like any other alumni fans.

Maybe I'm an elitist but I don't buy that "I couldn't afford to go to my favorite in-state public school" sob story. If you had a heartbeat in high school, didn't knock up your girlfriend and are able to make a little bit of sacrifice/take on some debt most schools that have sidewalkers are affordable.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. There are ways to get to UA for free if you're smart enough.

It's still pretty douchey to say... you and Rebelgator would be good friends
