If you are really going to "do" West Texas nothing beats Big Bend and the smaller south towns like Marfa and Alpine.

I pretty much like all things Texas outside of the Longhorns. I don't remember going to Lubbock but I've been just north and south of there and West Texas is neat. I like the El Paso area, Guadalupe Mtns., etc.

Big Bend really is pretty cool, albeit pretty far from Lubbock.
