Safe to say VOLS fans will never GAF about college baseball?

This was on twitter. Tennessee has struggled in SEC play I believe, but saw where we are still projected to make the NCAA Tourney. Middle of the day on a Saturday, school still in session, facing the SEC leader and rival. And this is the crowd we get.
Sad, but time to face reality. Bottom line is there is no reason to pay a coach over $500K/year for non-revenue sports or make upgrades to the stadium when we could put the money in the basketball hire or football program.

I've never watched a single inning of college baseball in my life. Are they even on TV?

Top ten Alabama is in town. A rivalry...and no one cares?

And I can't name a single current college baseball player in any team. Just like I can't name any college swimmer or gymnast.

Yes. Its a partial scholarship sport that is 4 levels lower than MLB.

Tennessee, you can be friends with Mizzou on this matter

A guy who I've known my entire life played for them as did his little bro (his little bro who I remember throwing baseballs to when he was still a tyke is now at the higher levels of the minors waiting on the knock) yet I've never been to a UT baseball game. Not even when I was on campus and one of my best friends was playing. Had I known when the games were I certainly would've went to see my childhood friend and later his brother play.
Why are things the way they are? Until Serrano, UT has done nothing whatsoever to hype or advertise the team. I never knew when the games were unless I happened to be walking by. All the basevols need is some PR.

Don't know.
The next phase is this
And then this
Not sure they will have the donors to follow through though. There is very little interest in Tennessee baseball here.

I honestly never knew anyone followed college baseball closely until I joined this board and saw some schools treat it as a huge deal.
Strange how large the gap is between schools like Miss State/LSU and the rest of the league/nation in terms of interest.

Very nice!
Give the man time. His track record speaks for himself. It was probably the best coaching hire for UT in any sport recently.

Dave Serrano is a good coach. He will have people in the stands once he builds UT up more.

Agreed. They do a nice job with their twitter account but I never hear anything else about them on radio/online/TV, etc.

It took a while for the Smokies to get a fanbase. Now people absolutely love going. The basevols will be fine if UT advertises them and keeps at it but the success of the Smokies may make it harder on the baseball team to gain an audience. UT has waited until there's a competing minor league team with a following and now faces a tougher climb establishing that fan base.

Per twitter: We're apparently beating Bama 6-2. And one of our players got his first career home run.
