Bottom line..gays should have the same rights as everyone else. Same for minorities or anyone else.
The law says that age religious beliefs, sexual orientation nor race should disqualify anyone in job consideration. Nor the right to vote(excepting minors). Nor the rights contained in the Bill of Rights or guaranteed us in the Constitution.
But nowhere in those documents does it say people should be granted special rights because of perceived or even real discrimination from the past. Prejudice, historically, was not an exclusive property of the aggrieved parties of today. The Irish and the Chinese are good examples of this.
Nowhere is the right to seek revenge, nor the right to punish those who might not agree with your particular agenda. The recent Mozilla case comes to mind.
Martin Luther King had a great idea and expressed it in his "I Have a Dream" speech. He was seeking EQUALITY, not vengeance, not reparations or special rights. Nor did he call for others rights to be taken from them over expressing their right of free speech.
Things like Mozilla should chill you all to the bone. The PC Police are a danger to democracy and the concept of consequences for expressing an opinion or taking a perfectly legal political stance is almost Gestapo like.
