Par for the course. Saben knew he was not going to use him as RB, told him he would, and therefore kept him away from a rival school - temporarily. "
The players would do themselves a favor to think for themselves sometimes though and try to see through these promises.

When else has Saban done this? Sorry, seems like you know about it more than I do.

quote:Yup, just like a lot of other kids. It happens everywhere. It's a recruiting tool that nearly all coaches use, and it works. Get them committed, get them signed, get them on campus, let them try to position they wanted to play, and then switch them to the position the coaches want or need him to play. Not a big deal, IMO.
Corey Grant lied to in the recruiting process
As for the thread, yes, Corey Grant was lied to. Yes, Auburn fans called that. Yes, he should have gone to Auburn out of high-school. Do I care? No, just glad to have him where he really wanted to be.

How is Rudy Ford doing at running back?

Bryan Matthews hates Alabama almost more than he loves Auburn. He is the ultimate homer on recruiting sites second only to Hamm.
Why would I want to read his biased opinion on an SEC recruiting board? It is the equivalent of a Bama fan posting the Capstone Report or an article from Tide Fans on here.

And Corey Grant will never scare anybody at RB anyway..
Teams shouldn't even game plan for him, IMO.

Currently his CB predictions are 100% for Auburn in 2015 including Daron Payne. He rarely picks against Auburn for a desired target. Compare that to Charles Power's picks. It's a stupid thing to argue about. If you think Bryan Matthews is unbiased that is your choice. From a Bama perspective he is a big homer just like y'all view Bone.

Point being is that the cbs article should have been linked, not the one by BM. If I wanted to read BM opinions I'd go over to AUC.

Your upset he hasn't changed it since? Is Payne supposed to commit sometime soon?

Not upset. Just pointing out that he has a tendency to make extremely homer picks and stick with them on targets Auburn really wants. Charles Power will put picks in against Bama on guys we really want all of the time.

So no mention that he picked a guy like Ronnie Clark to Bama then? Or Casher? Or Humphrey?
Interdasting...

Of course not, that wouldn't fit his agenda

I mentioned crystal ball picks for prospects that Auburn really wants.
I'll give him Clark. I thought that the Auburn staff told Casher to kick rocks? A pick to Bama would make sense then. Hump was never going to Auburn. Wasn't even a possibility.

You're really fricking reaching now.
Let's see, he also picked Nick Chubb, Zo Carter, & Kendall Baker to UGA.
Picked Brandon Harris to LSU.
What's the excuse this time?

He was 32/37 on his crystal ball predictions last year.

Outside of Auburn circles, Matthews is considered a homer.
For the record I don't consider all other site reporters to be homers. I think Niebuhr is usually pretty solid (except when he deals with UGA ). I also think Gentry does a great job of reporting what he hears even if it's not what his subscribers would like. Sonny and Shea are somewhat decent aside from 545.
But if y'all want to look at Matthews as an objective beacon of information, I will not stand in your way. Point being is I'd rather not have to sift through the BS in an article to get the news on the SECrb. It's as simple as linking the CBS article instead of AUC. Just like y'all would appreciate Bama fans not linking to Bama Mag or Capstone Report for an article on Auburn. Common courtesy

This thread is freakin gold. Bama fans comparing Matthews to Crapstone report

Saban also told him while he was being recruit that, (obviously paraphrased) "We're going to switch to a spread offense to keep up with the times and we want you to be the feature back."
I mean, honestly, if you're gonna actually buy that, I really don't know what to say
