Based on this logic, Phil Jackson was barely an above average coach as well. He didn't win big without the elite superstars either.

Phil Jackson has acocmplished a hell of a lot more than Spoelstra. And players have given testimonials affirming PJ's coaching genius. So no I wouldn't say PJ is barely an above average coach. I don't hear anyone actually in the NBA saying how good of a coach Spoelstra is.

I do think there are better coaches than Phil Jackson who don't have the rings that he does. Larry Brown for example.
