More work for same or less pay has been an unfortunate side effect of the recession. As have older workers having to work longer to make up their retirement losses. Demand for labor isn't going to be there when companies can do the same with less. That's not even to mention the regulations that keep businesses sitting on the sidelines.

It's putting a lot of pressure on the middle class and especially young people with tons of debt and paltry means of making it back up. It's still tough out there and we've been the economic leader in the world since the downturn.
