Quite a lot of messed up things happen in life?

If you were designing a program to draw a perfect circle and you ended up with an oval then something's wrong with the program. You would try to correct it to get to that perfect shape. You wouldn't wait for the oval to figure out it was supposed to be a circle.

If the point of life is to get from birth to death as easily as possible, then there wouldn't be any hardships. If the point of life is to experience hardships and overcome them, there wouldn't people people who coast through a carefree life where little to no adversity is faced. But both happen.

What kind of programmer would design a program where anything at all can and does happen? What would be the point?
