I'm gonna need to see a little more production out of TN before I'm ready to anoint them as the third best "small state" for SEC recruiting.

As of now, and as history suggests, it's close between Mississippi and South Carolina.

Per scout, four-star or greater players

Mississippi - 54 (including six five-stars)
2015 - 7
2014 - 9
2013 - 6 (including two five-stars)
2012 - 4 (including two five-stars)
2011 - 8
2010 - 8
2009 - 6 (including one five-star)
2008 - 6 (including one five-star)

South Carolina - 59 (including 7 five-stars)
2015 - 5
2014 - 8
2013 - 6
2012 - 6 (including one five-star)
2011 - 8 (including two five-stars)
2010 - 9 (including one five-star)
2009 - 11 (including one five-star)
2008 - 6 (including two five-stars)

Tennessee - 46 (including two five-stars)
2015 - 9
2014 - 7
2013 - 8 (including one five-star)
2012 - 6
2011 - 4
2010 - 2
2009 - 5 (including one five-star)
2008 - 5

Y'all have a while to go, Tennessee.

But what constitutes a "small state"? South Carolina has the same population as Alabama at near 5 million. Tennessee is a bit larger at 6.4 million. Meanwhile, Mississippi is roughly 2.7 million.
