Best football year for the East and West in their history?

I would have just gone back to 2000 when college football first started, but I figured the actual beginning of the divisions was better
I have a good idea of around the time when the west was most definitely at its peak which was only a few years ago IMO. I'm not so sure about the east though. Thoughts?

2011 for the West, no?

I definitely felt that too. Didn't a few of you think 2010 was just as loaded?

The West had the top 3 teams in the country at one point in 2011.

Top to bottom 2010 was better for the West, but it's hard to argue with having 1-3 in the same division at the same time.

For the West it's definitely 2010 or 2011

For the East, it's either 97 or 12.

This will be Alabama's easiest schedule in 5-6 years. No way Alabama loses more than 3 and that's including possible SECCG and BCS bowl.
Regardless...I thought it might have been the late 90s due to Tennessee's and Florida's tSteady and Georgia's incline. Kentucky had a good year or two in there as well

Petrino had it going on man. He just needed a DC and a different emphasis on recruiting. I was really looking forward to the FYMF bowl.

Meh, I'm not buying it either. I put my thoughts in the Fowler thread. I think he is just looking for tweet followers/stalkers.

As of right now, either 2010 or 2011, but with the way Auburn, Alabama, A&M, and LSU are recruiting it's not unreasonable to think that the next few years could be better.

2010 for the west was the deepest. However, I believe that 2010's best team would have been, at best, the third best team in 2011.
