I do not have a religious bone in my body, but I will never say as much in polite conversation with anybody. I think it's a little off-putting, as is someone with faith bringing up their religion to me.

You put "fact" at the end of your statement, so it must be true.

I agree with this. I have never asked, nor have I volunteered information without being asked, about my own or the religious beliefs of others.
I honestly don't care what you believe and if I don't share your beliefs I'll keep my opinions to myself... except on the interwebz.

I'm being serious.
My boyfriends parents are devoutly religious. We can't even sleep in the same room when we stay with them. They think I'm a Christian.
I grew up going to a Baptist church every Sunday and every Wednesday. I know more about the bible than many Christians. I have tons of friends are are very religious.
I'm not nearly as big a dick IRL as I am on the internet. When it comes to religion anyway...

no it was History of Religions
was tied to the anthropology classes as a prereq
The anthropological study of religion has been highly sensitive to changes in the general intellectual and moral climate of the day; at the same time, it has been a powerful factor in the creation of that climate. Since the early discussion by Edward Tylor, interest in the beliefs and rituals of distant, ancient, or simpler peoples has been shaped by an awareness of contemporary issues.

Im appalled. Everyone knows that Greek Mythology got it right. Then I tell them they are going to have to deal with Zeus when they die or face going to Hades.
