Like I said--it's his call.
He's the HC.
To answer your question ... sometimes it's helpful to solicit feedback from external evaluators--folks who can be brutally honest w/o running the risk of violating the internal biases that are inherent in human nature.
It's similar to policy rationale held by top universities who won't hire their own graduates as professors--diversity of thought and opinion.
Different strokes, that's all.
Kids are free to choose Auburn; and/or they're free to choose alternately.
