My son went bowling last night with a few friends. Alex Collins was in the lane next to them.

Not only did Collins avg 215 over three games, but he was kind enough to give pointers to my son, hang around and chat, etc.

According to son David, Collins is a remarkably solid 5' 10"; was soft-spoken, approachable, signed autographs and tool pics with all-comers, and was '...probably the nicest nicest FB player I've met other than DJ(Williams.)

No hero worship intended here, but it is refreshing to hear about such a fine young man who came from difficult circumstances.

I really hope he has a fine career

seems like a great kid which is incredible considering the parents he has. glad the Fayetteville community has embraced him, best thing he ever did was get out of Miami.

His HS coach was a father figure, right? He apparently did a great job

So proud to have someone like this as a Razorback.

I also wish him the very best, mainly health, & possibly, hopefully, a Heisman.

Always great to hear stuff like this- my nephew lives down the hall from him and says he's a good guy too.

Alex Collins was 3 feet away from me at the Kentucky/Arkansas Basketball game taking pictures with anybody who was requesting them. He just seems like a solid dude, and a great ambassador for the Razorback football team.

He's easy to root for because he's a good dude.

Agreed. Getting out of Miami was by far the best decision he ever made, and it's good to see a great kid thriving in a good environment.

I wonder if it was his decision alone or if his HS coach persuaded/urged him, but it's heartwarming to see someone only 18 years old to make a mature, rational, life-altering choice.
