You are correct, but I think most ignored that option based on the view that the massive increase in injuries is absurd. On the other hand, if studies did show that, the cause would likely be obesity. As such, the better response is getting way overweight linemen in shape, not slowing down the game to accommodate the unhealthy. Those factors likely affected poll voting.
