Were any of those LSU players track guys...sprinters? I call bullshite on some of the slow times I saw today. I realize that the starting position is so the scouts can get an equal measurement across all players, but for a player not trained to sprint in track, that has to be the most awkward starting position possible. I don't know about Blue, but Hill is faster than that.
The trained track guys were the ones burning the 4.2-4.3 times. I think the long jump, vertical and timed agility drills tell you more than the 40 about a player's potential
I've never thought of this but makes sense. if you are familiar with track starts you have an advantage.Even thought these guys have been training this for a few months not. I personally think you should start in the position you would actually play in. only Dlinemen and maybe Ol should start with a hand on the ground.

Football is still a skills sport augmented by speed, strength, quickness, etc.
Our players performances on the field speak for themselves.
W.r.t. the OP:
a) The only "slow" time would be Landry's so maybe the premise is flawed.
b) Most HS times are likely to be falsely fast. FTR, Jeremy Hill's 'recruit' 40 time was 4.63s. Jeremy Hill Rivals
