18 cars........75 laps......187.5 miles...........under the lights...... in a non-points no-holds-barred shoot-out at Daytona to kick off the week long journey to The 500.......
I saw in practice today where three Hendrick engines all blew up after 2 or 3 laps.........meaning that the elite robot alien Hendrick-powered automatons like Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Danica, and the rest may be fricked this week!!!! Fingers crossed.
Let's do this!!!!!!

whose your favorite driver?

Danica was one of the ones that blew an engine..........meaning she has to start at the back of the field in The 500 no matter where she qualifies..........
Which is just as well. That's where she always ends up anyway.

I don't really have one.
But, when a race starts and you start to see how things are shaking out, I might begin to pull for someone.

Damn. DW is in the hospital........
.So no "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity" to start the race.

Its hard to explain. Nascar is infested with robotic corporate yes-man salesmen these days......The heroes and legends that built the sport would have never gotten a top ride in the sport today........because they aren't glossy prettyboy salesmen that say nothing.
So, most times........rather than pull for anyone these days, you're really just hoping to see the robot drivers fail or get turned into the wall.....and then cry in their frappacino.

I used to live near Daytona. Once I got pit passes to the 24 hour race and got to walk around the pits as the teams worked on their cars. Saw Bruce Jenner. Then we walked across the track to the stands to see the race start. Now, it is on my bucket list to be at the clashes and see the race.

i can respect that...so would you say that NASCAR is losing some of its longtime fans because of that reason? do you think it'll be around that much longer, relatively?

Absolutely.
It's the perfect example of a regional phenomenon (Southeast) getting greedy.......and expanding........and expanding until it is unrecognizably watered down and neutered.
Kind of like a Southeastern football conference I know of.......that added a milk toast school recently.......in it's own greedy expansion march towards watered-down sack removal.

Well, lets hope it doesn't get to that point. I don't know if CFB is as much of a niche sport as NASCAR is, but I do think conference expansion is a terrible idea.

One segment down........One robot driver in the wall and out of the race.......
A good omen.

I'm curious as to why you continue to call him a robot driver. Is it because he is a driving machine? Or is it because you don't like him because he is the best driver in Nascar history not named Petty?

Denny Hamlin--he seems to have all the luck.

Considering some bets on a few longshots. Who does everyone like tomorrow?
Thinking Truex Jr but he never actually wins races.
