The main component of the HUNH is catching the other team not ready. It's not about X's,O's and execution. It's not about innovative new formations or plays. It's not about running a route better to get open or putting a hat on a hat to make a hole. It's about catching someone with their pants down. It's fundamental success relies more on the other team not doing their job than your team doing it's job, and it will be figured out relatively quickly by defensive coaches. Which is why I don't really see a need for a rule change. The HUNH will go the way of the wishbone soon enough. What teams that live and die by it need to be concerned about is what will their coach do if he doesn't have the talent to design and call plays without gimmicks. In this regard I have a lot more confidence in Saban to figure a defense out to stop it than I do in some other high school coaches living without it.
