There are hundreds of assistants in the SEC. It's probably very easy to pick out the ones you know are fools and go get them to say something foolish, and then publish an article that suggests that all SEC schools will recruit in this manner.

Thayer is attempting here to paint the entire conference as a bunch of bigots. Because he is Thayer and thats what he does. Ask Auburn fans. Ask Oklahoma State fans. AsK LSU fans. This man is the posterchild of journalistic trolls.

I don't disagree that Thayer sucks and that he is attempting to do what you allude to in second paragraph. But its an interesting and very quick "NIMBY" reaction in this thread.

If the article, even penned by Thayer, named a specific school, lets say Tennessee just as a random example, half to 2/3 of this thread would instead be "LOL your staff sucks Tenn, you bigots, get a new staff, troll troll Tenn sucks screw Tennessee, we are so much classier than the Vols we would never do that but Tenn did cuz they suck, etc etc". There wouldn't be many people saying "oh he's just stirring the pot" or saying he made it up, other than Tennessee fans.

But because it could theoretically be any one of the 13 other league schools with some random dumb assistant who said this, every single poster is on the defensive and downgrading Thayers and questioning the quote's context and in some cases its authenticity.

^^What's funny about your example is Tennessee had Jackie Walker long before Michael Sam came around. We celebrate Jackie so it would be real hard for us to turn around and down Sam.

But I get your point. And I don't think Thayer's making anything up. In fact the quotes on negative recruiting aren't directed at Sam being gay but rather "mizzou covering it up."

If the article was written by Stewart Mandel or Andy Staples this would be true.

But Thayer Evans is a known liar who has been caught making shite up in the past and was canned for it, and then did it again, and then did it again. Everyone here knows who Thayer is and what he is about...that's why we are all in agreement that this article is poo.
