Was checking out the women's standings to make sure Bama wasn't at the cellar (we're not btw, we're actually in 8th place, woohoo!) And I noticed that the Lady Vols are not on top, infact, South Carolina is, sitting at 10-1. Also, their overall record is an incredible 22-2.

Damn, so Cocky fans, what's the story? Got a great coach? An amazing player(s) or something finally coming together? What's USCe's history in the sports?

Great coach and players

Dawn Staley is a Womens b-ball legend and deserves tons of credit. While we have great players now, her recruiting class coming in next year is sick. Already have 2 Mcdonalds AA comitted and hope to get a 3rd. A'ja Wilson is the #1 player in the country and goes to HS in Cola. I feel we will beat out UConn for her but she has not made a commitment yet. Probably will bring in 3 Mcdonalds AA this year. Dawn's girls play the toughest D you can imagine.

Dawn when she was leading the US.

Great to see another SEC program doing well. Georgia and Kentucky have historically pretty good programs.... but they must be in a funk right now since Alabama just beat both of them.

I would be shocked if the USC women do not make a final four and beyond at least one time in the next 3-4 years.

Maybe she'd be up for coaching our men's team, our D intense coach lost his touch.

I don't think that we can't neccesarily, but we will need to be a 1 or 2 seed. Im not excatly sure though. I know if we are not a top team we can forget about it though.

We went to the Sweet 16 two years ago and gave Stanford (in Fresno, CA btw) all they wanted.

Dawn Staley is a HOF coach and we've been finishing top 3 or 4 in the SEC for a few years now.

Can't for flag reasons... not seed reasons...

I don't think the flag thing counts for post season tournaments that the school is actually participating in. Otherwise how would we keep hosting baseball regionals and supers

Didn't we host a women's NIT game a couple years ago? The stupid rule confuses me. I know the ACC has/had its baseball tourny in SC before but I'm not sure how or if they were punished. It doesn't seem like the ncaa can enforce something like that.

I thought that was the reason we had to travel out to Colorado last year. I may be mistaken. (It supposedly happens...)

She's been an Olympic player and the Olympic Coach, who also played professionally. She has a lot of cred with young girl players so she recruits well. Past couple of years they went wSweet16 and the 2nd RD. They should have a shot this year.

It wasn't until you said you were surprised UT wasn't on top that I realized, but I mean why make people decipher the meaning of your post? You could have easily slipped one word in the title or the first sentence that would have let people know.

I'm not mad, I just don't see why you wouldnt' be descriptive. Hunter did the same thing earlier today.

No I'm pretty sure the ACC tourney actually had to relocate from Myrtle Beach because the "rule" is that the NAACP is gonna boycott any postseason event that is predetermined to be set in SC. So bowl games, conference tourneys and NCAA basketball tourney sites are all gonna be met with an NAACP boycott.

Postseason host sites that are awarded based on merit though do not get boycotted (like the NIT and more importantly baseball regionals and supers)

Women's basketball tournament host sites are predetermined. They are released back in like October. We are unable to host a basketball regional because the NCAA bans our state from hosting tournaments where the site is predetermined because of the Confederate flag.

This is different from baseball. In baseball, host sites are selected on merit, which is why South Carolina gets to host.

Now, I think I read somewhere that women's basketball will be moving to a merit based system. If that happens, SC will be able to host women's basketball.
