you realize that RC's biggest issue was nothing he had control over dont you?

Wally Groff and the BMA's running the show at the time flat refused give him the money needed to hang onto his better assistants or to upgrade facilities to the level needed to compete with OU, Texas, and Nebraska.

for petes sake his office wasn't even big enough for a recruit and both his parents to sit down in.

If Slocum won the Texas Tech (led by 18 mid-third), Nebraska (led by 17 late third), and Missouri (2OT) games in 2002, he's 9-3, going to a bowl game, and preparing to coach the 2003 season, likely with a rock solid recruiting class and Kevin Sumlin as an offensive Coordinator. Hell, I'll even throw in the Virginia Tech game in which they held the Hokies to less than 200 total yards of offense but still lost 13-3 and resulted in Dino Babers firing.

In each of the seasons I mentioned, there was one or more WTF losses and missed opportunities which would have changed the course of the season in his favor (Colorado, Oklahoma, Miss. State 2000, Colorado, Texas Tech, Texas 2001, every loss in 2002 except for Texas)

Or have you forgotten all about Mr. "Haaaalf the teeyammmms in cawledge footbawll lawsst todayyy and we playyed a pretty good team"?
