All BS and joking aside, if this is where your expectations are, no team is ever going to satisfy you. Our coach "unfortunately" wins the conference? Good grief.

It resulted in a 7 year contract extension. Let's compare what Slocum and Childress did following their breakout seasons:

Slocum (won Big 12 in 1998)

1999: 8-4 (5-3) - shut out by Nebraska and Penn State, humiliated by Stoops in Norman

2000: 7-5 (5-3) - 22 game home win streak ended by a 3-8 Colorado team, 1st and goal from the Oklahoma 8 down 4...no Toombs, loss in the Snow Bowl to Jackie.

2001: 8-4 (4-4) - another loss to Colorado, OU, t.u., 12-0 loss in Lubbock, first bowl win for Slocum since 1995 over fat Fran. Wally Groff stated that the record doesn't matter as long as the seats are filled. Many media outlets predicted that A&M would never be better than 8-4 as long as Slocum remained there.

2002: 6-6 (3-5) - Picked to go 10-2 in preseason, managed to choke 3+ score leads to Texas Tech and Nebraska, followed up a win over #1 OU with a 2OT loss to a 5-7 Missouri team. Back then, a losing record at Kyle was UNTHINKABLE

Childress (went to CWS in 2011, 2+Q)

2012: 43-18 (16-8) - Managed to get run out of the College Station regional with a team that had House, Naquin, and Juengel at the plate and Wacha and Stripling on the mound.

2013: 34-29 (13-16) - Plodding along all season before Oregon State put an end to it in Corvallis.

2014: 36-26 (14-16) - Won series vs. Florida, Vanderbilt, and LSU, 2-0 vs. Rice, yet still managed to go .500 in conference and we all know what happened this weekend.

Looks like more of the same.

you realize that RC's biggest issue was nothing he had control over dont you?

Wally Groff and the BMA's running the show at the time flat refused give him the money needed to hang onto his better assistants or to upgrade facilities to the level needed to compete with OU, Texas, and Nebraska.

for petes sake his office wasn't even big enough for a recruit and both his parents to sit down in.
