Hopefully it makes him so angry he'll hold onto the football.

It would be nice to get an angry runner again.

Won't matter if Henry keeps improving like he was.

I think it's crazy that anyone would shite-talk a 6 ypc running back.
5ypc is considered really damn good.
So Yeldon's sophomore slump is 6 ypc.... and considering all Bama lost on the OL from the previous year, I hope whoever is nega-talking Yeldon doesn't vote.

I didn't realize the negative talk was happening. I haven't seen anything in media.
Agree. If there is some negative talk going on, its probably fans upset with all the fumbles. Many probably also think Drake and/or Henry are more capable.

Yeah. people in our fanbase definitely dont give him enough credit.

He is a great running back, but he makes me nervous as frick. My nerves can't handle another year of chronic fumbling.

yeah 4th quarter red zones fumbles are awesome and should be rewarded with lavish praise. we don't have an issue with his ability to run after touching the ball... we just strongly prefer he still has it when the play is over.

That is just the type of back he is, the lanky ones if they aren't perfect with ball placement then fumbles will happen. But to clarify I wasn't being negative when I said I want to see a back run angry. All the backs we have are unique talents but seeing them all run like Trich or pre injury Fowler would be amazing.

He hasn't been injured in two years, he is 6ypc in two years, he had one crucial fumble and that's all some Bama fans want to focus on.
Do yall have any fricking idea how many puppies most coaches would kill to have one player like Yeldon on their team right now?
Yeldon wasn't the reason Alabama lost games this year.

More like three (or is it four?).

You lose a game when the other team scores more points than you. Blame your defense.
If Yeldon sucks so bad, cut him loose.
Saban isn't that stupid.
Or is he?
Why am I defending Yeldon to Bama fans on a Bama board?
Good question, I don't know.
Nevermind, forget I ever said anything.

Hey Deep I haven't bashed Yeldon I like Yeldon, the Fumble and Fumble thing (for Yeldon and Drake) is just a joke based on the overly used cliche Thunder and Lightning and all the dopey ones they tried to come up with for Ingram and TRich in 09/10. Yeldon and Drake have both held up surprisingly well as All Purpose backs in a physical rushing attack like ours. Both guys have a tendency to fumble but like I said some of it has to do with their frames, both being APB's have longer less compact bodies. Plus while they both have fumbled several times it really only stands out because we've had a strong runners Coffee, Ingram, Trich, Lacy, Fowler. All these guys have been the same basic body type and a compact bruising running style. While Ingram had one big fumble (part of the 2010 Iron Bowl) these runners set unrealistic expectations of backs with heavy amounts of carries. Yeldon/Drake's body types don't do them any favors as well.
Yeldon though is just a guy that is a playmaker, while Drake has a 2nd gear that is a thing of beauty. If Drake was in a spread offense he would be a household name.

Yeldon is averaging over 6 yards per carry in his career and has run for over 1,000 yards in each of his two seasons at Alabama. If anyone is being negative towards him and wants to see his playing time reduced, they are smoking crack.

I really enjoy the outsider's perspective.
I think it is a valid question to see if Yeldon will improve his fumbleitis. He has great burst (when healthy, of course). It will be interesting to see how he responds. There are four backs behind him who are hungry for carries. Will he live up to the challenge, or will he get complacent?

Have any of you watched what Yeldon did against SEC defenses last year besides the fumbles?
He is, by far, our best RB. He runs hard, blocks well, catches the football out of the backfield and has a nose for the endzone.
He had fumble issues. So what? Eddie Lacy did too during his first 3 seasons. He corrected them his last year and he's the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Henry had one good game against a Big 12 defense.
Yeldon has put up better numbers against better defenses.
He had over 130 yards against LSU this past year. He was responsible for our win against them in 2012.
Quit bashing the kid and look forward to his performances next season.

Henry played against scrubs after Yeldon battered starting defenses.
Henry will have his time to shine, but he will not jump TJ.
I have yet to see Henry pass block. Yeldon is very good at it. I watched it tonight while reliving the Bama-LSU game.

Yep, and another thing with Henry when he did play (with the exception of the Sugar bowl) and get carries it was kill the clock situations or on downs where would be throwing something if the game was in any doubt. Henry has all the physical tools to be successful, but I still want to see him when he is tired, when we need a first down desperately, when everyone in the stadium (including Crazy Uncle Verne) knows that he is getting it.
Reminds me a lot of TRich in that regard. If you remember his first outing in a Bama uniform against Virginia Tech he looked absolutely awful. It was because it was in the point of the game where Tech was selling out to stop the run. (Much like this year). After that VT game and the next few games where he got little to no mop up duty carries I distinctly remember people calling him overrated, someone who should have redshirted etc.
Then Ingram gets his bell rung against Arkansas and TRich comes in during a real series with the first team surrounding him. You may remember that run because Crazy Uncle Verne had said "My God a freshman" (emulating Munson)
The point is Henry is super talented but for the most part an unproven commodity as a complete RB. But at the same time even feeble West Virginia will have some type of plan when he gets his first carries against them next fall. I hope for that reason we go PA and take a shot down field if they respond to him entering the game like I think they will.
