I'd say there is a decent portion of LSU fans.
definitely not an overwhelming amount but if you're talking Mobile and the Eastern Shore... then yeah... I think LSU is better represented in the area than most people realize.
South Alabama SHOULD have more support but they don't.
people are sheep. They'll cheer for Alabama because just about everyone else around here does.
1. USA will never have support and honestly there is no reason for the program
2. People in Mobile cheer for Alabama for the same reasons others cheer for Auburn or Florida or LSU

Ehh, its just the "thing to do" right now.
It was like that at Bama when I was there 20 years ago.

Belmont-Lipscomb is the best rivalry nobody knows about,
True statement. The Battle of the Boulevard. Campuses run into each other.
Another cool small college rivalry is Ouachita Baptist/Henderson State. They are across the street from each other. In fact, when they play football, they each use their home locker room because their stadiums are so close together.

are you an alumni? Because if you are, then you are definitely part of the problem. It's not like South has a bad team. They've already done more then I think most would have expected by now.

it is mostly an Alabama town. Auburn and LSU would be the others obviously.

Dallas: Very OU heavy, with TCU and Texas having a very strong presence as well. Not a lot of A&M.
Totally agree. More OU fans than A&M fans in Dallas

In Atlanta, it's obviously UGA #1, but there are a lot of other fanbases in the city. Around town, it's very common to see Alabama, Auburn, and Clemson stuff. All within 3 hours on a major interstate. Georgia Tech in the 90's had a huge presence, but since then, their support has greatly diminished.
In Jackson, Mississippi, it's predominantly Mississippi State. Then, you get Ole Miss, and Alabama as clear cut #2 and #3. Smattering of Southern Miss and LSU are also apparent.

Actually, Ole Miss does not have a lot of fans anywhere, beyond its own alumni and their families. It did decades ago, but it lost it, as the program declined.
A recent survey, in fact, found that there are fewer Ole Miss fans in Mississippi than either MSU fans or even USM fans.
Furthermore, much of "redneck" Mississippi are Alabama fans or (on the coast and in the southwest corner of the state) LSU fans.
The fact that Ole Miss has been a mediocre program for so long combined with its image within Mississippi as being a snobbish place inhabited by the elite has prevented the development of much of a non-alumni fan base in the state.

I grew up in Atlanta in the 90s and early 00s and don't remember seeing nearly as many script A's then as I see when I go back to visit now.
It used to be, if I remember correctly:
1. UGA
2. Auburn
3. UT/GT
Bama didn't even register.
Don't know if it's just band wagoners or what.

As far as current OM attenance is concerned, doesn't OM get a lot of Texas and Georgia 'spillover' of students who could not get into UGA,GT, TXAM, TX (each is a hard school to get in to)

Let's slow down a little. We have gained some ground, but UT still has us beat. The other thing about a lot of Vandy fans is that I don't think we represent in public as much. UT fans and other fanbases wear a lot more apparel in public while a lot of Vandy fans don't break out the gear unless going to a game (and sometimes not even then ).

Ole Miss's largest coningent is in Oxford. Second is easily Memphis with fans and alumni scattered throughout the metro, But more concentrated in Desoto County on the MS side. OM has pretty much everything North of Oxford. I think socioeconomic background might have more to do with fanhood than location in Mississippi.

Alter much?
If you are serious, you must not get out much, or you must not live in Mississippi.

There are several high schools around Georgia and Texas that seem to feed into Ole Miss. Highland Park High School in Dallas, for instance, which is nationally ranked academically, has more students graduating and going to Ole Miss than UT or aTm.
