Mentioned the top coaches in the game and included:

Bill Self
Tom Izzo
Coach K
Billy D

No mention of any other SEC coaches. Weird.

His college coaching career didn't last long, but that's what happens when you hitch your wagon to a pill headed drunk.

Maybe if he had listed his top 5 instead of his top 4.

He didn't do a top 4 list. He just said the best coaches in CBB. Someone seemed to be missing.

Why? Cause Cal wasn't on his list?

I don't think you know what a flame is.

Here: My goodness Arky has a terrible basketball program now.

I mean, saying something so obvious is a flame meant to garner a response. I didn't do that.

I was just wondering if Jimmy was considered a guru. I happen to think he left off some pretty good coaches.

I actually think he missed a couple of good coaches that would be considered the best in the business.

Yes, Rick P would be one I would consider.

He knows the fundamentals of the game, having played and coached for Sutton.

As far as anything else, he gives his opinion as a fact like every other analyst on ESPN. Franchilla and the bald guy are good about this. Every coach they have had is a failed coach, Knight is arguable since he was good before going down in flames at Indiana, past his prime at TTU.

Jim B from Syracuse would be another even though he's missed on some National Championships IMO.

His teams are usually pretty tough to face in a tournament setting. i hate those damn long players he puts out front on his zone. Arms like giraffe legs.

If they asked Dykes for that same list tomorrow night, the names would he gives would likely be different.

Calipari is also on that list as much as some people refuse to agree with it.

I don't know if you would include his NBA career as part of it, but Larry Brown seems to be doing great at SMU. They actually beat Kentucky head to head on a recruit last year. They will most likely be a tournament team this year.

Sean Miller (Arizona), Steve Fisher (San Diego State), and Gregg Marshall (Witchita State) all deserve some praise as well.

There are probably 25-30 coaches you name as being a "top" coach today.

30 would be 8% of the D1 coaches which sounds about right.

I think Thad Matta flies under the radar given how consistently good he's made that program.

Cal
Roy Williams
Sean Miller
Jim Boeheim could also be added to that list I think.

As far as college basketball color guys go, he's no jay bilas... but solid... much better than someone like vital are the dude who did the LSU game the other night.

Vital is the worst, he just rattles off non sense to prevent dead air.

If you can get Knight interested, he actually gives non-biased info about the game, so many of the other former coaches give the commentary about what teams are doing "wrong" because it isn't the way they coached their teams to play.

He really pissed off a lot of Bama fans when we played @UCLA earlier this year, but I love listening to him call a game.
