With Shaka Smart's move to Texas, Tevin Mack is probably back in play for us. However I don't think he'll come here, we'll see how it plays out.

Here's some of the info on Mack.

Mack chose VCU b/c of Shaka Smart. Mack was all VCU and had VCU all over his social media. Last night, he got rid of all that VCU stuff and started telling people that he wasn't committed to VCU anymore.

Mack did sign a LOI for VCU in the early signing period. VCU can release him from that LOI, but they don't have to. It is Mack's right to just not go to VCU this year if they don't give him a release, he would have to sit out a year, but then could play anywhere next year.

UConn was #2 behind VCU when he was making his decision. UConn is only graduating 1 player this year, and I don't think they have any early NBA departures.

UConn took 2 commitments this year, both highly rated, but neither was a SF like Mack. They will probably have to cut 1 guy at least from their roster already, if they bring in Mack, they'll have to cut 1 more.

SC is kinda in the same attrition boat, but we have Sheppard who is a SF on the chopping block already. If Sheppard is leaving b/c of that suspension he got, I could see us push for Mack.

One thing that could be total conjecture, and that I heard 2nd hand so I don't know how factual it is, is that Mack wasn't high on playing with Dozier, b/c Dozier is the "super star" and Mack didn't want to be his Pippen. Again, I don't know that as fact, that's just a rumor I heard.

I think Mack is >>>> Sheppard. If we somehow get Mack to SC this class (assuming VCU releases him from the LOI,) this would be the greatest recruiting class for SC in 20 years. Mack is a shooter and can put up a lot of points, he needs to work on his defensive skills, but our teams biggest need right now is shooting and he could help.
