Braves arbitration/free agent stuff

Quick run down
Kimbrel wants $9 mill we offered $6.55 (31.5% diff)
Jhey wants $5.5 we offered $5.2 (5.61% diff)
Freddie wants $5.75 we offered $4.5 (24.39% diff)
I do not expect us to keep Kimbrel past next season. It really sucks, but he is a reliever who we have very little chance of resigning when the time comes.
It becomes even less likely that we will be able to keep him when you consider the everyday positional players that we will have to pay.
Freddie is phenomenal with his glove and his contact rate. He does leave much to be desired from a power stand point, but the dude is a ball player plain and simple.
Jhey: The fact that we are going to arbitration over 300k scares the shite out of me regarding his future with the club.
2016 Free agents: Jhey, Medlen, Justin Upton
2017 Free agents: Freeman, Kimbrel
Medlen was able to avoid arbitration this year, but IMO he is not in the long term plans for the team due to his diminished velocity and injury risk.
I honestly have no idea how we are going to be able to afford both Upton and Jhey moving forward.
Also note that Gonzales and Wren are both in the last years of their contracts.
One positive is that Uggla is finally off the books in 2015

It will be a very bad mistake if the braves end up not paying Kimbrel and letting him go next year.

Kimbrel will be traded to the highest bidder if he wants 9M in arb#1

Yeah, Kimbrel is out of his damn mind.

Meanwhile they're making it rain in New York and LA...

our TV deal and disinterested owners have put us behind the 8-ball. I'm actually kind of worried about the Braves' future. Our farm system blows right now, and if we lose freeman, Heyward, etc in the next couple of years we might be looking at some Astro-like seasons.

Pay Freddie and Craig, tell JHey to kick rocks.
And someone please force Struggla to retire

I think we have 1 guy in the top 100 and hes at 80 or something like that. The farm system used to be a strength and now its a major weakness

Don't casty me
Dude is an average player. Failing to sign over a $300k difference on a $5 million+ contract?

more of an indictment on the organization than the player

The $300K gap speaks more to our owners than the player IMO. basically, we fricked

I wish Liberty Media would just fricking sell the Braves to an owner that is willing to invest enough.

I am not on the JHey bandwagon. Sorry
A .254 BA and .389 OBP is respectable, certainly. But it doesn't get me jumping for joy, no matter how great his fielding is.
If we come to an agreement and he stays, that's cool. But I'm not doing backflips over him.

I believe the power will come around eventually for Jhey but his injury history is a bit of a concern. A few of them (appendectomy, broken jaw) have been freak occurances.
I'm not trying to say the guy is soft by any means but his threshold for pain doesn't seem to be all that high when you consider the neck, thumb, and shoulder ailments that have held him out of the lineup for extended periods of time.
I also believe that Kimbrel could get us the best return if we are able to trade him to a contender seeking to bolster their pen for a title run, assuming we are not in serious contention.

Yep. Unfortunately, with that awful tv contract that the Braves have, I don't think anyone else would buy them right now though.
